Secondary Education Degree

Become a high school teacher

Certification in secondary education consists of completion of an academic major in which initial certification is sought and professional education requirements are completed. You can choose to add middle school certification in your content area through testing.

Specific course requirements for earning certificates to teach in subject areas are established by the Division of Education. These requirements are based on minimum standards issued by the Missouri State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

To earn a high school teaching degree, you will complete the degree requirements for your subject matter as well as the requirements for your teaching certificate.
